About Adam
Adam has been teaching formally since 2010 while working in child and youth work, where professional boundaries are paramount.
Many of Adam's students have gone on to be incredible performers in their own right with some even becoming teachers themselves.
During his time at BAMA, two recitals were prepared each year to show off his large roster of students' performances. Many were recorded and can be seen upon request.

Adam began his musical journey informally, launching right into creating, recording and performing original alternative music in high-school. Later, he formalized his approach studying jazz music at Capilano University whilst continuing to push his various bands forward off campus.
Now, Adam offers learnings from both worlds- from the concert hall to the dingy house show basement. Whether you want to achieve a solid foundation of technique, decode tricky odd time signatures or how to properly prepare for a recording session, Adam will support you through it.
After graduating from Capilano University with a Diploma in Jazz Studies, Adam taught at The Bergthorson Academy of Musical Arts for several years before relocating to Victoria. Adam's overarching concept is that music is itself a kind of mixing board. The mastery of an instrument is to tune the various dials of syncopation, tempo, heaviness, funkiness etc. with ease.
For beginners, Adam will get you started on a simple drum beat on the first lesson and then both add to your collection of beats and how to move between them- with some exciting fills in between!
