About Sami
I started playing the drums at age 7, and studied Classical percussion for 10+ years in a Classical conservatory.
I have played in classical orchestras, pop and rock bands, jazz-funk bands, reggae, latin as well as folk and world music bands. I have 30+ years of experience.
I am currently studying Global Music at Sibelius Academy to further develop my skills in various traditions and as a workshop facilitator.
I teach in English, but I can also teach in French or in Finnish.

I approach percussion and rhythm as a whole. The specific technique for each instrument comes second. The first instrument is our body, and a lot can be learned through body percussion and voice.
I propose specialisation in: drumkit, western-classical percussion instruments, Latin percussion, djembé, cajon, pandeiro brasileiro, daf, derbuka and riq.
