About Robert
I was born and raised in Manchester. When I was 6, I began playing percussion a community samba band--they started me on the maracas and I soon moved up to my own snare drum. By the time I was 8, I was behind the kit playing for multiple brass bands.
In 2010 I graduated from Leeds College of Music with a 1st Class Honours BA in Popular Music and have since toured internationally as a professional musician.
I have been tutoring students 1-1 in drumming, music theory and audio production for 19 years.
Watching those with an interest in music grasp concepts and do things that once seemed impossible is what it's all about.

I believe learning should be a joy and a place for personal growth.
It’s my job to engage with each student’s individual enthusiasm for the drums, music theory or audio production, to encourage, challenge and nurture their interest.
My goal is that students leave our lessons feeling enlivened and motivated to continue practicing and exploring the drums until our next session.
I have been working as a professional musician since 2010 and have 19 years experience as a private music tutor.
I teach students ages 7+ at any level of experience.
Lessons are typically 40 minutes long.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
Fundamentals
The drums are like any other instrument with a set of fundamental principles, disciplines and practices that form a vocabulary: the building blocks of the language of drums. You will learn essential technique, fundamental rudiments and to read and write drum notation.
Creativity
Alongside learning the rules and boundaries of a language comes the will and the knowledge to break them. With this break comes new life, freedom and creativity. You will learn drum fills, solos and improvisations that are an extension of your soul. And a lot of fun too!
Musicianship
Drums are an independent craft, discipline and skill in their own right, but they are fundamentally a collaborative instrument. You will learn how to develop your practice to integrate with other musicians and communicate fluently through rhythm.
