About Ariel

I am a Chess.com Coach with a platform-verified profile, a rapid rating of over 2250 (maafernan on both Chess.com and Lichess), and years of experience teaching and training players of different ages and skill levels.

I’m a passionate chess player and coach, combining years of experience with a solid chess background to help you improve effectively.

While my primary profession is outside the chess world, coaching is something I genuinely enjoy and dedicate part of my time to.

More than teaching chess, I enjoy helping people discover what they are capable of achieving. Few things are as rewarding as seeing a student gain confidence, think more independently, and realize that consistent effort can turn difficult goals into attainable ones, both on and off the chessboard.

Chess is a gym for the mind. It develops logic, strategic thinking, emotional control, long-term planning, and creativity; skills that translate naturally into business, academic environments, leadership, and real-world problem-solving.

I believe chess is one of the most accessible and universal disciplines. With the right plan, proper guidance, and consistent effort, any player can make meaningful progress.

My coaching approach focuses on building strong habits, improving calculation, and developing practical decision-making at every level. Because I work with a limited number of students, I can provide highly personalized coaching. Feel free to contact me to check current availability.

About the lesson

The lessons are 1‑hour online sessions, fully interactive and personalized according to the topics each student needs to work on.

I use the Chess.com Classroom tool and Google Meet for online sessions.

I work with beginner, intermediate, and advanced students (0–2000 rating). My approach is clear, practical, and adapted to each student’s level. In the lessons we can work on:

— Essential fundamentals and basic tactics
— Practical thinking: how to avoid mistakes and create simple plans
— Guided practice and targeted exercises
— Game analysis and personalized feedback
— Strategy, planning, and endgames according to the student’s level
— Opening repertoire
— Tournament preparation (for advanced players)
