About Akshaya
Hi! I'm Akshaya, an A-Level student studying Biology, Chemistry and Psychology, with a passion for helping students build confidence and achieve their academic goals.
I tutor Science and Maths for students in Years 6–11, tailoring every lesson to the individual. Whether you're looking to strengthen your understanding of a particular topic, improve your exam technique or build confidence in science, I aim to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where no question is too small.
I have previous experience tutoring KS3 students and have seen how effective personalised, visual teaching methods can be in helping students understand and remember challenging concepts. My lessons include retrieval practice, clear explanations, exam-style questions and plenty of opportunities for students to ask questions and learn at their own pace.
Alongside my studies, I am a Chemistry Ambassador at Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School, where I have represented the subject at sixth form events, supported practical sessions and helped prospective students gain an insight into A-Level Chemistry.
I believe that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching to suit each individual, helping them not only improve their grades but also develop confidence and enjoyment in learning.

What to Expect from My Lessons
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although lesson length can be adjusted to suit individual needs.
Personalised Learning
I offer two approaches to ensure lessons are tailored to each student:
Option 1 – Personalised Learning Plan
At the start, students complete a RAG (Red, Amber, Green) assessment of the topics in their syllabus to identify their confidence levels. I then use this to create a structured learning plan, focusing on weaker areas while reinforcing existing knowledge.
Option 2 – Topic-by-Topic Support
Students can choose the specific topics they would like to cover in each lesson, whether they need help understanding new content, revising for exams, or working through difficult questions.
Teaching Style
Every lesson includes:
Regular retrieval practice to strengthen long-term memory.
Plenty of opportunities to ask questions in a supportive, pressure-free environment.
Clear explanations using diagrams, flowcharts, mind maps and other visual learning techniques.
Exam-style questions and practice where appropriate.
From my previous KS3 tutoring experience, I have found that students develop a much deeper understanding and retain information more effectively when concepts are explained visually rather than simply memorised.
