About Ruthie
I am a professional ASL-English interpreter, and graduated from RIT/NTID (Rochester, NY) in 2014.
My desire for new language learners is for them to feel confident in practice, so that confidence transfers to their everyday life!
ASL is my second language, but I learned from Deaf individuals since day one. I will always refer back to the Deaf community as the best people to learn from (ASL is ultimately THEIR native language, not mine). I am simply here and available to support the learning you do from them.

Perfect! I had my initial free lesson with Ruthie. She was extremely supportive and responsive to my personal goals and clearly articulate the the structure of her tutoring sessions. She also pointed me to some helpful self-study resources.

Perfect! She is fluent and is very good at noticing my mistakes and correcting me as we go along in a way that shows me to be better at communicating what I am saying. We work on different things so that we are keeping things interesting and not just dwelling on 1 subject making matters boring or monotonous. She is rewarding and encouraging! Most of all knowledgeable! Great teacher!

I have really enjoyed my time working with Ruthie since the beginning! She has been so helpful in the learning process and makes me feel very comfortable expressing when I’m not understanding something and need to go over it again.
