About Lauren
I am a freelance editor with an academic client base. As an English student at the University of California, Davis, I was a peer tutor through the University Writing Program for the 2018-2019 academic year for a program focusing on non-native English-speaking and international undergraduates. My minor specialized in professional writing and science writing and I have professional experience in journalism and copywriting from a career in the entertainment industry. I am also a published poet and an editor for a poetry journal.

My tutoring method is collaborative and prioritizes students' feedback so that I may best tailor their learning experience. In breaking down class assignments and workshopping essays, I integrate instruction on composition and grammar into my comments so that each session organically includes lessons that can be applied to a students' continuing growth as a writer. I would love to help any lower-division college student in any discipline who wishes to improve their writing abilities. Additionally, I have over two years’ experience workshopping poetry and I am a poetry researcher and I am happy to assist anyone who wishes to improve their poetry practice.
