  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I developed a deep love for English as a child. I have always been a voracious reader and writer, and that passion has only grown over the years. I went on to complete a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature, and I now am working on writing my own books. Growing up, I naturally became the person who helped my younger siblings and cousins with English from learning the alphabet to preparing for exams. Teaching has always felt intuitive to me, and private tutoring became a natural extension of something I was already doing with joy and care.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, and the topics you enjoy discussing with students.

My lessons are always tailored to each student’s goals, whether they are preparing for exams, improving academic writing, building confidence in conversation, or strengthening their overall understanding of English. I especially enjoy helping students develop critical thinking and strong analytical skills. English is not just about grammar; it’s about learning how to express ideas clearly and confidently. I focus on helping students structure essays effectively, interpret literature deeply, and communicate with clarity in both academic and everyday contexts. I put a great deal of time, care, and creativity into planning every lesson. I believe learning should never feel boring, students should feel engaged, challenged, and proud of their progress.
  • Did you have any role models a teacher who inspired you?

My Grade 6 teacher remains one of my greatest inspirations. She was organized, ambitious, and direct but most importantly, she believed in her students. She taught me the value of structure, goal-setting, and self-belief. Those lessons shaped not only how I approach my work, but how I conduct myself in life. I aim to pass on those same values of discipline, clarity, and confidence to every student I teach.
  • What qualities are required to be a good tutor?

A good tutor is attentive, adaptable, and genuinely invested in their students’ success. Every student learns differently, so flexibility and problem-solving are essential. Most importantly, a good tutor believes in their students sometimes even before they believe in themselves. When a tutor is committed to a student’s goals, real growth becomes possible.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your school days.

Throughout university, we wrote essays weekly. I consistently performed well and was often among the top students. Several of my essays were even used as examples in lectures to demonstrate strong structure and analysis. However, in my final year, my marks began to drop. I was doing everything the same way I always had. When I asked my lecturer what needed to change, he told me: “You aren’t going deep enough; ask yourself why.” That advice transformed how I approached English. I learned that analysis is limitless. There are no “right” or “wrong” answers only arguments supported by evidence. That moment taught me that English is not just about words on a page; it is about curiosity, depth, and intellectual exploration.
  • What challenges have you faced or continue to face in your subject?

As a writer, I continue to challenge myself creatively. I am currently working on my second book, and like many writers, I sometimes experience moments where inspiration feels distant. However, I’ve learned that creative challenges are part of growth. When inspiration returns, writing becomes one of the greatest joys in my life. That process has taught me discipline, patience, and resilience, qualities I also encourage in my students.
  • Do you have a particular passion?

My greatest passion is creation; whether through writing or art. Creativity plays a large role in my teaching style. I design original lesson materials and visually engaging slides tailored to each student. For me, teaching English is both analytical and artistic. It combines systems with creativity and I truly enjoy every moment of that balance.
  • What makes you a Superprof?

I am a Superprof because I teach with intention, care, and consistency. I invest time into every student, not just academically but in helping them build confidence and independence. I see tutoring as a partnership: I help my students achieve their goals, and in doing so, they help me live out my passion for education and creativity. I work hard, I show up prepared, and I genuinely care about the success of the people I teach and that is what makes me a Superprof.
