About Olivia
Beginners often think guitar playing is purely about speed. Actually, the best players I have worked with are the ones who listen first. My background is a BFA in Contemporary Music Performance from USC Thornton.
I have spent 13 years playing acoustic sets in every small venue from Texas to Georgia. Open mic regulars kept asking how I managed my sound during those sets. That curiosity pushed me into teaching. Today, I work with everyone from absolute beginners to working professionals.
I have taught 131 students over the years. My goal is to make sure you understand the mechanics of your instrument. You deserve a clear path to improvement. I keep things grounded and honest.

Strings biting into calloused fingertips is a sensation every player knows well. Fixing your tuning and maintenance issues is where we start. Before we build a lesson plan, I conduct a thorough diagnostic skills check to see exactly where your foundation stands.
We then cover everything from power chords and lead guitar to music theory and blues progressions. My teaching relies on the same ear training I used to survive 13 years on the road.
We can work through sheet music or strumming patterns depending on your needs. It is all about finding that folk and Americana groove. Reach out if you want to play music that feels like a Townes Van Zandt song.
