I've been lucky enough to stay in touch with many for her former students, me being one of them. We all chose careers based on Helen's teaching. She molded entire lives and I don't know if it gets any better then that.
Helen Dearman's "hand-on" teaching style, as well as her genuine love, and deep concern for her students changes lives! As a teen, I went through an extremely rough time of self-doubt and frustration; however, thankfully Helen was there to lift and inspire me through it! She provided me with many unique opportunities to serve in health-related leadership roles for our school as well as for the state of Utah. To help me do my best and succeed in those leadership roles, she even provided me with the sponsorship needed to attend amazing state and national leadership academies!
In addition, thanks to Helen's inspiration, love, and superb teaching, I was blessed with the knowledge and skills needed to earn first place in Deseret News' Utah Sterling Scholar State Competition! Interestingly, that was the first time anyone had ever been awarded Sterling scholar in Vocational Education under the subcategory of Nursing Assisting! Nevertheless, with Helen Dearman training me and cheering me on, I successfully competed against fierce competition. Similarly, I was also blessed to earn additional academic scholarships from other sponsors and Universities as well, thanks to her!
Ultimately, I became a nurse as a direct result of Helen Dearman's quality instruction, guidance, and love for me as a student in her high school class! She planted the seeds of medical field and leadership interest within me years ago and it paid off! Consequently, that knowledge and those nursing and leadership skills she instilled in me have proven priceless even today as a mother, family member, neighbor, stranger, and friend. Thanks to her, I've had the needed knowledge and skills to pay it forward and bless lives in a ripple effect of service to others. Without a doubt, with Helen Dearman as your instructor, you too are in the absolute best hands! It’s been 27 years since I took her CNA class, but My friends and relatives all wish they had Helen as a teacher because I still remember how she instilled empathy for different patient procedures. My oldest son is an RN and so is my daughter in love, she and I were just discussing how she wished her C N A teacher would have been hers. My husband recently had a colonoscopy and that’s what brought this subject up. He passed with flying colors because we practiced following the Dr's orders to a T. Helen really drove that home for us. Even though I didn’t pursue a career in the medical field, I still use everything she taught us in real life. She made learning fun and, as a result, I still regard her as the best teacher I ever had.
Sincerely
MistyI would highly reccomend Helen for any teaching position. Her teaching skills are top of the line. I know that I am fifty years old, but Helen taught me in high school. I signed up for every class that she taught. Helen's teaching skills are top notch. She made it fun but she got the material across to us so that we retained it.
Helen worked with me and helped prepare me to go to a vocational competition for scholarships. There are not a lot of teachers that would be willing to spend the time with a student to do this.
Helen has retained communication with a good number of her students from teaching the in high school as well as the Certified Nursing Assistant class. I didn't keep in touch with any other teacher.
If I had a child, niece, nephew, or another person asking for a recommendation for teaching or tutoring, I would absolutely put Helen's name at the top of the list.

I met Helen in 1989 in Vernal Utah, as a new sophomore in high school trying to figure out what I wanted to do when I graduated she recommended a career in health care. I took three different courses from Helen in high school Health occupations, certified nursing assistance, and most importantly life. If you needed extra help she was there if you needed to talk she was there, Helen was a great example of how to treat people! Helen also had a great way of making you understand the content of the courses she taught. Helen also new where to draw the line in the sand with professionalism and personal content. I still keep in touch with Helen and think she is an amazing example of not only a great teacher but of a great human being!
As a former student of Helen Dearman's, I can truly attest to her great teaching style. Helen is a woman of great character and love for teaching and her students. She starts with where they are in the learning process and takes them forward to reach the best of their abilities. She is one in a million!
Ms. D is an amazing teacher. She made my classes fun, filled us with the knowledge we needed and have long since retained! She is the reason so many of us are nurses now. She encouraged empathy, treating patients with the utmost care. Also took us on the most amazing field trips to drive home the lessons in the most creative ways. She is more than a teacher to so many of us. Mom, friend, sister to us all. Beyond well loved. I’m the nurse I am today because it all started with learning from her. She instilled the passion for medicine in all of us.
