About Selah
Hi, I’m a piano tutor with over 9 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a Piano Emphasis. I teach a wide variety of pianos, including Grand, Player, Digital, Upright, Classical, Electric Keyboard, and Acoustic Piano. My lessons focus on areas such as chord theory, ear training, improvisation, and expressive musicality. I take a student-centred approach, tailoring lessons to meet the needs of both school students and adult or professional learners. Over the years, I’ve helped students progress from beginner to advanced levels, and even guided those at the professional or expert stage. I focus on building strong technique while encouraging creativity and personal expression. My teaching combines structured guidance with playful, imaginative exercises, making learning engaging and effective. I help students develop confidence, musical understanding, and the ability to perform with poise. Every lesson is designed to support growth, whether preparing for exams, performances, or personal musical goals. I am passionate about fostering a lifelong love of music. Together, we explore technique, theory, and creativity, helping students achieve both skill and artistry. I emphasise building healthy practice habits, managing performance nerves, and approaching challenges with focus and creativity. Students learn to interpret music thoughtfully while maintaining technical precision. I provide support and encouragement, helping learners overcome obstacles and gain confidence in their abilities. My approach combines structured guidance with freedom to explore personal expression. Students develop not only skill and technique, but also a deeper connection to the music they play. I aim to prepare every pianist to perform confidently, creatively, and with a strong sense of artistry.
