About Melanie
Hello! My name is Ms. Melanie and I am thrilled to be you/your child's next English tutor. I have worked in private education for the last five years, teaching students of all ages and abilities with patience and compassion. I hold a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from York University in English Literature and Theatre Studies, specializing in playwriting and creative fiction. I am a working Montessori teacher based in Markham, ON and I can't wait to book your next session!

My teaching practice is student-focused, which is why my lessons are individualized for the needs of each pupil I take on. I believe in meeting students where they're at while achieving their goals, fostering self-confidence and autonomy over their learning journeys.
I am experienced in teaching English and Language Arts across all elementary and high school grades. The content of my lessons aligns with and expands upon the Ontario Language Arts Curriculum, with particular focus on critical thinking and real-world applications. Specialties of mine include vocabulary and sight word development, analysis of classic English and Canadian literature (such as Shakespeare and other secondary-level course texts), reading comprehension, and academic writing.
