About Torin
With 4 years of jazz piano teaching experience and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance, I am committed to helping students reach the artistic and technical level required for programs like Berklee and Juilliard. I believe that jazz is a language that must be learned both intellectually and emotionally. My lessons include harmonic studies, voicings, improvisation practice, ear training, transcription, and classical-based technique drills. I help students develop a personal sound while also strengthening foundational skills such as timing, articulation, and tone. Preparing students for auditions is one of my strengths, and I provide detailed guidance on repertoire selection, musical interpretation, and performance preparation. I adjust my teaching approach to every student’s strengths and long-term goals. My goal is to create an encouraging space where musicians can grow freely and confidently. Helping students unlock their artistic voice and develop mastery at the piano is the core of my teaching philosophy.

My teaching focuses on helping students perform with confidence and freedom. I guide them through performance anxiety using calm breathing and focus techniques. Stage presence is practiced through posture and gentle movement. Memorization is taught through recognition of patterns and slow, careful practice. Exam takers receive structured support. Church musicians learn dependable skills for weekly services. Recital and audition preparation includes run-throughs and expressive coaching. I emphasize tone, phrasing, and musical storytelling. My lessons are encouraging and organized. Students learn how to handle pressure. They grow stronger each week. Their performances show poise and emotion. I support them in becoming confident performers.
