About Fynn
With 9 years of experience teaching chess to players ranging from young beginners to advanced competitors, I bring a structured yet flexible approach to coaching. My background includes participation in national and international tournaments, where I not only refined my playing skill but also learned how to teach the game in a clear, engaging, and motivating way. I’ve coached students who’ve gone on to compete successfully in local and regional championships. My teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that chess is a language—one that combines logic, creativity, and discipline. I help students understand this language, enabling them to read the board and express their ideas confidently. I place a strong emphasis on thought process—teaching students how to evaluate, calculate, and execute their plans. Lessons are dynamic, with a balance of practical training, theory study, and interactive discussion. What makes my approach unique is the attention I give to each student's learning style. Some need deep theoretical grounding; others thrive on tactical practice and puzzle solving. I adapt to ensure every learner is constantly growing, challenged, and encouraged. I’m deeply passionate about chess and even more passionate about helping others experience its transformative power—from sharper focus in school to stronger confidence in life.

This chess course in Leeds is crafted for students who seek to understand the deeper logic and psychology behind the game. We begin with board fundamentals and piece dynamics but quickly move into opening theory, tactical patterns, and positional strategies. Lessons are designed to sharpen critical thinking, decision-making speed, and board vision. Through real-game analysis and scenario-based drills, students learn to identify opportunities and threats before they unfold. Beyond tactics, the course emphasises long-term planning—understanding pawn structure, identifying weaknesses in your opponent’s defence, and building attack formations. We study famous grandmaster games, analyse historical turning points, and apply theoretical ideas into live play. Students are encouraged to think like strategists, not just players, learning to evaluate positions beyond material balance and instead see the deeper implications of every move. Each session includes live practice games, analysis of student mistakes, and revision of opening repertoires.
