About Maiko
I moved to Australia in 2008 and have been teaching Japanese since then. I have taught over 1200 students as a part-time lecturer at several tertiary institutions and over 100 students as a private tutor from young children to adult learners. I like playing piano and now I'm practicing the songs of Ghibli movies and Your Name. I also love watching anime and reading manga with my son! She is a very knowledgable and structured teacher. Every lesson is planned ahead of time so we can jump right into it and progress exactly like what was outlined in our goals. She is also very friendly and supportive.
Since she is teaching me Japanese we usually get sidetracked with discussions of Japan & Japanese customs (which is great!) but she always makes sure to redirect us back to the lesson yet makes sure it is fun and interesting.
I am currently very busy with work yet she has been extremely flexible and keeping me accountable regardless, which I am so grateful for!

Maiko has proven to be a very committed teacher with a great understanding of my individual learning style. She is a delight to meet with each week and goes over and above the allotted time by providing me with homework during the week.
I've been learning Japanese from her for a while now. Her lessons are great as she'll help you with whatever you want to focus on and adjust the lessons accordingly. She's helped me study for the JLPT and also gave me advice when I went to Japan for a month. She's now assisting me in trying to work and live in Japan. I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants to learn Japanese and about Japan.
Maiko sensei has been my Japanese tutor for the past couple weeks and I would highly recommend her for anyone trying to learn Japanese seriously either for JLPT preparation or day to day conversational Japanese . Lessons are highly curated and personalized for your skill level even if you are a complete beginner. The homework she sets is fun and reinforces the concepts learnt each lesson. I also like how I'm able to ask her questions outside lesson time and receive fast replies.
Maiko Sensei is probably the best Japanese teacher you can come across. She’s so experienced - she is currently teaching in university and knows how to help you improve, regardless of your current level! Do yourself a favour and start this breakthrough in learning with her.
