• When did you develop an interest in music and/or your favourite instrument?

  Ever since I could talk, I loved to sing too! As a little girl I would love to play in the garden, singing my favorite songs, especially from Mariah Carey. Her music inspired me and showed me my vocal potential.

• Is there a particular type of music or an artist that you could happily listen to on a loop?

  Answer: My favorite genres are EDM and contemporary. I love DJ Alesso, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Whitney Housten, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Lil Wayne, Madonna and Fifty cent to name a few. If I could listen to anything on a loop, it would be the Tomorrowland sets.

• Explain to us the most difficult or 'riveting' lesson you could personally give to one of your students.

  Definitely it would be the confidence building aspect of vocal training. Thankfully over the years I've found the most effective methods to help teach and convey these insights to my students, getting them to apply them practically not only to their singing, but to their own lives. Once you feel confidence in your own self in your mind, your vocals follow effortlessly.

• What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

  Violin has been said to be the most difficult to master because there are no guides for finger placement. Personally I think that one sounds the best though and it's on my bucket list to learn.

• What are your keys to success (aside from do re mi fa sol ...)?

  A good foundation in vocals is essential, yes, but also important is the ability to communicate with your students to help them in the teaching process, getting them to genuinely love and understand everything, developing a respect for their own vocals. I'd also say having a good friendship with students and non judgemental mindset goes a long way. Making lessons fun is key too.

• Name three musicians you dream of meeting, and explain why.

  Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Mariah Carey, because I'm fascinated by their life, success and performances.

• Could you share an anecdote related to your musical journey or your student days?

  Being told I have a beautiful voice and I sing well but I needed to exercise and lose weight, after a church worship service. Totally uncalled for opinion and damaging to a young girl's self esteem especially considering I was a totally normal, healthy weight. You will get many compliments and insults along the way. You have to develop a tough skin for the haters.

• What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

  Genuine love for teaching the skill of vocals, having fun with my students and sharing in their joy when they experience the magnificence of their voice.
