About Daniel
Daniel Castorena is a Houston-based violist, currently in his fourth year pursuing a bachelor's degree in Viola Performance at the Moores School of Music under the guidance of Dr. Amber Archibald-Sešek. He began his musical journey at the age of 13, starting on violin and transitioning to viola three years later. He has been shaped by past teachers, including Wayne Brooks, former principal violist of the Houston Symphony, and Elyse Catoe. Daniel's passion for performance is evident in his participation with prestigious ensembles such as Carnegie Hall's National Youth Orchestra, the Moores School Symphony Orchestra, the Texas Music Festival Symphony, the TMEA All-State Symphony Orchestra, the Houston Youth Symphony, and the Virtuosi of Houston. He has performed in masterclasses with prominent artists like Milena Pajaro-van de Stadt, Masumi Per Rostad, Matthew Cohen, Amber Archibald-Sešek, Susan Dubois, Elias Goldstein, the Formosa Quartet, and Meg Roher. His repertoire is extensive, covering concertos, sonatas, solo works, and chamber music, demonstrating his versatility and deep understanding of classical music. In addition to his performance credentials, Daniel is also committed to music education. He teaches privately at the Pearland School of Music and across the Houston area, has given group sectionals to high school students, and has voluntarily taught private lessons to middle school students in Humble ISD. He aims to be recognized both as a performer and a teacher, with a passion for enriching the realm of music education through innovative instructional techniques and collaboration with fellow educators with an active and expanding stud

As a dedicated violin and violist and music educator, I offer personalized online violin and viola lessons for students of all ages and skill levels. With years of training under renowned teachers—including Wayne Brooks and Dr. Amber Archibald-Sešek—and experience performing with ensembles such as Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra and the Texas Music Festival Symphony, I bring both technical expertise and artistic insight to each lesson. Whether you’re just starting out or preparing for auditions, my lessons are tailored to your individual goals. I emphasize strong foundational technique, musical expression, and efficient practice strategies. My approach is encouraging, detail-oriented, and adaptable to each student’s learning style.
