About Sienna
I am a violin instructor with 8 years of teaching experience, holding a Bachelor of Music Education with a focus on strings and violin. My teaching emphasizes strong classical foundations while encouraging students to explore expressive and creative interpretations. I guide learners in mastering bow technique, developing a rich vibrato, and shaping musical phrasing to bring every piece to life.
Interpretive skills are a key focus in my lessons, helping students understand the story behind the music and express it confidently. I provide structured exam coaching, preparing students for graded assessments with clear guidance on technical requirements and musicality. Ensemble preparation is another area of expertise, enabling students to play collaboratively, listen attentively, and adapt seamlessly within a group.
I work with students of all levels, from beginners to advanced performers, tailoring each lesson to individual needs and goals. My approach combines discipline with inspiration, fostering both technical precision and artistic freedom. I aim to build confidence, nurture musicality, and instill a lifelong love of the violin. Lessons are engaging, structured, and focused on helping each student reach their full potential.

I begin each lesson by listening closely to my student’s playing, noticing not just the notes but the story behind each sound. Many beginners struggle with posture, and I guide them gently, showing how small adjustments can make the instrument feel like an extension of their body. Weak intonation can be frustrating, so I break it down with simple exercises, helping them hear and correct every pitch with confidence.
Bow hold and control often seem tricky at first, but I use creative games and analogies to make these technical skills intuitive. Scales become more than repetition—they are tools for discipline and gateways to expressive playing. I encourage students to explore dynamics, turning simple melodies into music that speaks and moves.
Some students arrive feeling unmotivated or unsure, and I provide structure, setting achievable goals that build momentum and pride. Others want to accelerate quickly, and I tailor challenges that stretch their abilities while keeping lessons joyful. We celebrate small victories together, from a clean scale to a beautifully phrased piece.
Through patience, encouragement, and hands-on guidance, students gain confidence, technique, and a deeper love for the violin. My lessons blend structure with freedom, creating a space where practice feels meaningful and every note has purpose.
