About Helena
With 18 years of violin teaching experience and a Master of Music in Advanced String Performance, I have mentored students preparing for orchestral auditions, solo competitions, and conservatory admissions. My formal training emphasised advanced bow technique, chamber collaboration, interpretive scholarship, and performance psychology.
I believe violin mastery requires disciplined practice combined with artistic exploration. My teaching philosophy emphasises individualised mentorship, structured progression, and consistent technical refinement. Personalised lesson strategies ensure that each student’s strengths are developed while addressing specific technical challenges.
Outside of teaching, I remain actively involved in chamber ensembles, repertoire research, and professional performance engagements. Continuous artistic participation enriches my instructional methods and maintains dynamic lesson experiences. Guiding students towards confident, expressive, and technically accomplished violin performance remains central to my professional journey.

My violin lessons are methodically structured to strengthen technical precision while cultivating expressive artistry and tonal sophistication. At the beginning of instruction, I assess posture alignment, bow hold accuracy, finger placement precision, intonation consistency, vibrato control, and rhythmic coordination. Foundational sessions emphasise bow distribution balance, scale and shifting mastery, articulation clarity, and tone production refinement. I demonstrate how subtle adjustments in bow speed, pressure, and contact point directly affect tonal resonance and phrasing nuance. Structured technical routines gradually build strength, flexibility, and coordination without physical tension.
As students progress, we explore advanced repertoire interpretation, dynamic shaping, stylistic analysis, and harmonic awareness. Ear training exercises enhance pitch accuracy and intonation stability, while etude studies improve agility and technical responsiveness. Constructive feedback addresses bow articulation refinement, expressive phrasing depth, and rhythmic precision to ensure steady improvement.
Performance development is embedded within all stages of training. I conduct mock recital simulations, refine stage posture and performance etiquette, and introduce concentration strategies to manage performance anxiety effectively. Through disciplined rehearsal planning and interpretive refinement sessions, students cultivate confidence and artistic maturity. My objective is to develop violinists who demonstrate technical excellence, tonal richness, and compelling stage presence.
