About Iris
I have 8 years of experience teaching violin and hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Violin Performance and Music Pedagogy. My teaching philosophy emphasizes combining technical mastery with expressive interpretation, fostering confidence, creativity, and disciplined practice.
I have taught students at all levels, from beginners learning their first notes to advanced learners preparing for solo recitals, auditions, and ensemble performances. Lessons focus on posture, bowing, fingering, scales, phrasing, sight-reading, and performance techniques, with an emphasis on building self-confidence and musical independence.
Teaching violin is profoundly rewarding because I watch students transform from hesitant beginners into confident, expressive musicians. My aim is to cultivate technical skill, artistic sensibility, and independent learning habits, while nurturing a lasting love for music. Ultimately, I strive to help students find their unique musical voice, perform with clarity and emotion, and enjoy the fulfillment of expressing themselves through the violin.

Violin lessons with me are designed to develop technical skill, musicality, and performance confidence. I focus on posture, bowing, fingering, scales, intonation, rhythm, dynamics, phrasing, sight-reading, and improvisation. Each lesson includes structured exercises, repertoire practice, creative exploration, and performance preparation, ensuring students progress steadily while enjoying the learning process.
Lessons are adapted to each learner’s level. Beginners concentrate on basic posture, simple melodies, note recognition, and foundational techniques. Intermediate learners develop scales, bow control, phrasing, technical exercises, and musical interpretation. Advanced students refine their mastery of challenging repertoire, improvisation, stage presence, and ensemble performance. Guided practice, personalized feedback, and goal-setting are integrated into every session to support consistent progress and increasing confidence.
The ultimate goal of my violin lessons is to produce technically skilled, musically expressive, and confident performers. Students develop discipline, focus, independence, and artistic sensibility, while gaining a lifelong appreciation for music. By the end of the learning journey, learners are capable of performing challenging pieces with accuracy, creativity, and personal expression. Lessons cultivate both technical mastery and emotional connection, ensuring students can perform confidently in recitals, auditions, ensembles, and solo opportunities, while maintaining joy and inspiration in their musical journey.
