About Willa
I have loved violin since early childhood, and this passion inspired me to earn a Bachelor’s in Music Performance specializing in Violin. Over 6 years of teaching, I have guided students of all ages to develop solid technique, musical expression, and performance confidence. My approach combines patience, structured guidance, and creative exploration, ensuring learners feel supported while challenged appropriately.
I focus on building a strong foundation while encouraging individuality. Exercises, scales, and repertoire are selected to enhance technical skill and artistic understanding. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s goals, whether preparing for exams, recitals, or personal growth in music. Mistakes are treated as learning opportunities, fostering resilience and curiosity.
Outside teaching, I continue performing, attending workshops, and exploring diverse musical styles, which I bring into lessons. Witnessing students transform their practice into expressive performance is deeply rewarding. I aim to help learners not only master the violin technically but also connect emotionally with music, cultivating confidence, enjoyment, and lifelong appreciation of their instrument.

Learning violin becomes enjoyable when students develop both technical skill and expressive musicality. My lessons focus on bowing techniques, finger positioning, intonation, and tone quality while integrating musical phrasing, rhythm, and dynamics. I emphasize structured practice routines that are accessible yet challenging, helping learners build steady progress and long-term confidence. Every session balances technical exercises with musical pieces that allow students to explore emotion and storytelling through sound.
I adapt lessons to each student’s skill level. Beginners focus on foundational skills such as posture, open-string exercises, and simple melodies, establishing strong technical habits. Intermediate learners explore more complex fingerings, scales, arpeggios, and expressive techniques, incorporating dynamics and phrasing. Advanced learners refine interpretation, vibrato, bow control, and performance readiness, preparing for recitals, auditions, or ensemble work. Constructive feedback and guided practice strategies are used throughout to ensure continuous improvement.
My goal is to nurture both musicality and confidence. Lessons are designed to encourage curiosity, patience, and creativity, helping students approach challenging passages with calm focus. Over time, learners develop a deep connection with their instrument, gain independence in practice, and experience the joy of expressing themselves through music. I strive to make every lesson inspiring and meaningful, ensuring students grow technically and artistically.
