• 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

  I have loved reading since childhood, but inspiring teachers as a teenager provoked me to teach myself. I started private tutoring last year so I could work from home and help with our children.

• 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

  I teach English Language and Literature from Primary level to Business level. I tutor History, Geography, Religious Studies and Citizenship online in the UK, Northern Europe and Asia.

• 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

  My Sixth Form English teachers inspired me that every idea, if backed up, can be valid.

• 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

  Subject knowledge, adaptability and emotional intelligence.

• 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  A decade ago I met a highly intelligent 11 year old, a rather serious Jehovah's Witness. I challenged him to enter the UK national GCSEs for 16 year olds and after some tutoring he passed!

• 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

  As previously discussed many answers are valid in English but not all are wise!

• 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

  My passion is seeing young people grow holistically.

• 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

  I love English, and all my various subjects. I love people of all backgrounds. I will find a way to help anyone who wants to learn improve.
