About Ross
I consider myself a major math enthusiast, considering I went to get my second degree in math after completing my business degree. I teach high-school math in all areas. From grade 8-12. Subjects include: algebra, trigonometry, geometry, calculus. I also offer help for university courses in the following areas (mostly at a first-year level): Finite and discrete mathematics Calculus I and Calculus II Introductory logic Introductory number theory UVic courses: Math 151 Math 100/101/109 Math 122 Math 242 Possibly more CapU Courses: Math 105 Math 108/109 Math 116/126 Math 124 Math 190 Possibly more Math is very fascinating to me and I love problems which are easy to understand, but difficult to solve. I specialized my studies in discrete mathematics and old mathematics (number theory, geometry, etc.).

Lessons usually consist of working through problems the student has difficulty with.
I focus on first principles, using definitions, and honing processes by developing a consistent and organized workflow. We will also spend time using mathematical intuition to guide actions, which will hopefully lead to independent problem solving.
By working through many different types of problems, students should have enough material to work on the subject on their own after the lesson.

Perfect! Ross was excellent. We hired him to help our 14 year old catch up after missing school after an extended absence. He kept things simple, very straight forward and needed no intervention from us. He let my son dictate the pace and had him engaged the entire time. There were no awkward pauses. The hour flew by and my son felt much more confident even after 1 session. We’ve had Ross back several times, he’s very responsive to bookings and it’s always been very positive. Though Ross had never tutored in Grade 9 math before he did great! Thanks Ross.

I took Math 190 at Capilano University and Ross was my tutor the entire semester. As a returning mature student, I had not studied or taken math courses in over 20 years. Ross was able to guide me through the basics and assist with university level course material. He was patient, clear and able to walk me through the steps of various problems.
