About Alex

I'm a final-year MD student with a Step 2 CK score of ~270 and a proven track record of guiding students to high scores through strategic, personalized tutoring. Over the past years, I've mentored numerous students preparing for USMLE exams, helping them break through score plateaus and achieve their target scores, including multiple students reaching 250+ on Step 2 CK. What sets my tutoring apart is my focus on exam strategy over resource accumulation. I don't just review content; I help students engineer their approach to questions, build mental stamina, and develop the test-taking skills that separate good scores from exceptional ones. My mentees consistently report not just higher scores, but greater confidence and efficiency in their preparation. My own preparation involved rigorously testing different question-reading strategies across dozens of practice blocks to identify what actually works under pressure. I completed hundreds of questions daily during my three-week dedicated period, giving me firsthand understanding of how to build exam stamina and maximize yield when time is limited. I've successfully guided students at all levels: Breaking through 240+ and 250+ barriers on Step 2 CK Building strong foundations in preclinical subjects (physiology, pharmacology, pathology, microbiology) Developing high-yield frameworks for shelf exams Optimizing study timelines for students with limited dedicated periods My approach is methodical, data-driven, and tailored to each student's specific weaknesses and goals. I'm committed to helping you not just pass, but excel with a strategy that's efficient, sustainable, and proven to work.

I don't believe in resource hoarding, most students already have the knowledge they need. What separates high scorers from the rest is exam-taking skill and strategic execution. My method focuses on three pillars:

(1) engineering a personalized question approach through tested techniques
(2) building intuitive, logic-based frameworks for the 20-30 most heavily tested concepts in each subject, and
(3) developing mental stamina through high-volume practice that mirrors exam conditions.

I help students move beyond passive content review to active strategy optimization. We'll analyze your current approach, identify specific weaknesses, and systematically address them through deliberate practice.

A Typical Lesson Plan

We start by diagnosing your current question-reading strategy and identifying where you're losing points, is it time management, content gaps, or poor question interpretation?

Each session includes: Reviewing 10-15 challenging questions together, dissecting not just the content but the approach to finding answers efficiently Building or refining high-yield concept frameworks (e.g., cardiac murmurs, OB scenarios, infectious disease algorithms) using logical reasoning rather than memorization. Drilling your question technique with timed practice, adjusting your method based on real-time performance. Creating a realistic study blueprint tailored to your timeline and target score

Between sessions, you'll implement the strategy with assigned practice, and we'll iterate based on what's working.

What Sets Me Apart

I've personally tested multiple question-reading approaches across dozens of practice blocks, reading stem-to-answers, answers-to-stem, scanning techniques—to determine what actually works under pressure. I bring that experimental mindset to tutoring. This isn't about me lecturing content you can read in UWorld explanations; it's about optimizing how you attack the exam itself.

I also focus on efficiency. During my dedicated period, I did 200-320 questions daily over three weeks. I understand how to build stamina, manage mental fatigue, and maximize yield when time is limited. My approach is data-driven and personalized, we adjust based on your actual performance metrics, not generic advice.

Who These Lessons Are For

1. Medical students preparing for USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK, or Step 3 who want to optimize their exam strategy and break through score plateaus
2. Preclinical students (M1/M2) struggling with foundational subjects like physiology, pharmacology, microbiology, or pathology who need conceptual clarity
3. Clinical students (M3/M4) looking to build high-yield frameworks for shelf exams and boards
4. Students who feel overwhelmed by resources and need focused, strategic guidance rather than more content
5. High achievers targeting 250+ who want every competitive advantage

Whether you're starting from scratch or fine-tuning for a top score, I tailor lessons to your specific level, timeline, and goals.
