About Brittany
My name is Brittany, and helping readers and writers is what I do best. I'm a published author, writing professor, and experienced tutor with advanced degrees in both English and Creative Writing. I hold an MA in English and an MFA in Creative Writing with a focus on genre fiction and poetry. I have also completed doctoral-level research in literature, genre fiction, and poetry.
I teach writing at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and have extensive experience helping students and writers strengthen essays, research projects, theses, creative writing, fiction, and poetry. My approach focuses on helping writers understand not only what can be improved, but why, so they can become more confident and independent writers. I can assist with organization, argument development, thesis statements, research analysis, revision, style, grammar, and citation, as well as character development, plotting, structure, worldbuilding, voice, and poetic craft.
As a published author and developmental editor, I understand writing from both sides of the desk. Whether you're struggling with a college essay, working through a thesis or research project, developing a novel, revising a poem, or simply trying to become a stronger writer, I tailor each session to your individual goals, experience, and writing style.
Above all, I believe good tutoring should be collaborative and encouraging. My goal isn't to rewrite your work for you--it's to help you develop the skills, confidence, and understanding you need to make your writing stronger while still ensuring the final work sounds unmistakably like you.
