I structure my sessions around clear objectives, measurable outcomes, and each student’s specific goals. Before teaching, I review prior attainment, identify gaps, and align content with exam board criteria where relevant. Sessions begin with targeted retrieval to strengthen long-term memory and address misconceptions early. I then model high-quality thinking and responses, explicitly demonstrating how top-band answers meet assessment objectives.
Students move from guided practice to independent application, building competence and confidence. I prioritise depth of understanding over surface memorisation, ensuring students grasp the reasoning behind concepts.
To help students achieve their goals, I provide precise, actionable feedback linked directly to mark schemes. Progress is measured through regular low-stakes testing, timed exam practice, and comparison against assessment criteria. I track improvements not only in grades but in clarity of argument, analytical depth, and independent thinking.
