About Isabelle
I’m a student at the University of Melbourne, studying a Bachelor of Arts in Politics & Linguistics, and I’m passionate about learning and sharing my love for the English language!
I love meeting and connecting with new people, so I strive to make every lesson engaging, relaxed, and fun. I believe learning is much more effective when it connects to things you genuinely enjoy. If you have a special interest or hobby, I’d be more than happy to incorporate it into lessons — whether through creating a fun game, using interesting topics for conversation practice, or finding examples that relate to your interests.
Outside of studying and tutoring, I’m an active person who loves hiking, skiing, singing, scuba diving, and traveling. I’m always excited to learn something new, and I hope to bring that same enthusiasm and curiosity into my lessons!

I take an engaging, personalized approach to tutoring, adapting each lesson to your goals, age, learning style, and current level. Rather than relying solely on worksheets, I aim to make lessons interactive, helping students build confidence through practical applications.
Depending on your needs, lessons can include test preparation and targeted drills (to get a 750+ on the English section of the SAT), vocabulary development, grammar and writing practice, and reading comprehension. We can also practice conversational English or basic speaking skills if you would like a more casual/informal language learning journey.
Lessons typically run for 1–1.5 hours, depending on the student’s age, needs, and attention span.
My Qualifications & Experience:
Strong academic background in English Language and Linguistics. Accepted to study English Language and Linguistics at top UK universities (KCL and more) and studied Linguistics through a highly selective program for two years. Achieved a 1540 SAT score, placing in the 99th percentile.
I studied at Hwa Chong Institution, an academically elite high school in Singapore, where I consistently achieved top grades in Linguistics, General Paper, and Literature.
I was also part of Singapore’s Gifted Education Program (GEP), a selective program for the top 1% of students, which has given me a strong foundation in English and academic learning.
Beyond academics, I have experience working with children and young people in educational and mentoring settings, including teaching at an after-school student care center and working with children through programs at Mandai Wildlife Reserve. These experiences have helped me develop an approachable and patient teaching style and the ability to communicate effectively with children and adults.
I am happy to teach children, teenagers, and adult learners, and can work with students ranging from beginners to more advanced learners.
I can particularly help students looking to:

- Strengthen reading and writing skills
