About Hugo
I'm a Bachelor of Science graduate from the University of Melbourne, where I majored in Computing and Software Systems.
During my degree, I studied a wide range of computer science subjects, including programming, algorithms, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer systems and software development.
Beyond university, I've gained practical experience developing full-stack web applications, cloud-based systems and machine learning projects using technologies such as Python, Java, TypeScript, React, SQL and AWS.
Having recently completed my degree, I'm familiar with the challenges of learning programming concepts, working through university assignments and preparing for technical assessments. I enjoy breaking down complicated ideas and helping others develop the confidence to solve problems independently.
I'm patient, approachable and happy to adapt my explanations to suit different levels of experience.

I offer personalised programming lessons for beginners, school students, university students, and anyone looking to improve their coding skills.
Whether you're learning to code for the first time, struggling with a university programming subject, or working on a personal project, I can help you develop your understanding and confidence.
**Subjects I can help with include:**
- Python, Java, JavaScript and TypeScript
- Programming fundamentals and object-oriented programming
- Data structures and algorithms
- Web development with React and Next.js
- SQL and database fundamentals
- Debugging, problem-solving and understanding code
- University programming coursework and exam preparation
My teaching approach focuses on understanding concepts rather than simply memorising solutions. I break down complicated topics into manageable steps, use practical examples, and encourage students to work through problems themselves with guidance.
Lessons are tailored to your experience level, learning style and goals. Whether you're preparing for an assessment, trying to understand a difficult concept, or building your first application, we'll focus on developing skills you can use independently.
