About Ryan

As someone who has taught classes of 80+ students at OCAD University in Game Design and 3D Game Art with only a Bachelor's degree, I have proven myself to be exceptional at providing students with a clear understanding of game and asset production, while also providing personalized 1-1 support for student success. But unlike many university teachers, I have worked in game studios and for clients with my 3D skills, working on games, animations, NFTs, and even VR research.

About the lesson

With a diverse range of 3D skills and industry experience, I will prepare you to work in games or animation as a 3D artist, giving you the confidence you need to succeed.

These lessons are for beginners to undergraduate level 3D artists, and will cover the basics of subdivision modeling, sculpting, retopology, UVing, and texturing, while also providing constructive feedback and framing your learning around a career path in the industry so that your portfolio will impress potential employers.

Even if you have no interest in turning pro, I will help you become confident in your skills as a hobbyist or freelancer.

I am incredibly patient and will adjust to your learning style or pace. We will choose a project to work on together, and we can set a flexible schedule that suits your lifestyle.

Ryan and I have collaborated many times together on school projects. When I was stuck on something we were working on, he had demonstrated lots of kindness and patience with me, explaining different 3D modeling concepts that I found too daunting to learn on my own, like baking, height maps, animation related things and working with trimsheets.
I was often too nervous to come to my teachers at school to ask for help because they were unable to explain things in a concise, direct manner whereas I could always count on Ryan to distill information in a way that I could easily digest and he cared about making sure that I actually understand what he's teaching. For this reason, I've paid Ryan in the past to tutor me more efficient workflows for Maya and to this day I come to him for advice regarding my personal 3D projects.
