About Jas
I'm Jas, a 21 year old music graduate specialising in musicology and composition. I'm also a keen clarinetist and wind player with a huge interest in theatre and musical theatre.
My university studies led me to research on decolonising the curriculum, accessibility and diversity in the arts and in music education, as well as queer, postcolonial and feminist musicology. I've played in wind ensembles, choirs, orchestras and jazz bands and am grade 8 ABRSM in both singing and clarinet. During my degree I also gained huge levels of knowledge in pastiche composition, counterpoint, music theory and fugue, as well as developing my own compositional style. My original musical 'Palindrome' premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe this year.
I'm keen to demystify the Oxbridge experience, and open up the idea of applications, exams, personal statements and interviews to anyone interested in humanities studies at a higher level.
