About Sophie
Hello! I'm Sophie, a History student at the University of Cambridge with four years of tutoring experience and a strong interest in widening access to higher education.
As someone who attended a state school before successfully applying to Cambridge, I understand both the opportunities and challenges involved in applying to highly competitive universities. Throughout my own application journey, I developed a deep understanding of what admissions tutors are looking for and the skills that make applicants stand out.
Alongside my academic studies, I have supported students across a range of ages and educational backgrounds, helping them develop confidence, strengthen their academic skills, and achieve ambitious goals. I am particularly passionate about helping students realise that Oxbridge is not just for a select few, but a realistic option for any student with the ability, curiosity, and determination to succeed.
My aim is to provide honest, personalised guidance that helps students present the strongest possible version of themselves throughout the admissions process.

I offer personalised Oxbridge admissions support for students applying to Oxford and Cambridge, with guidance tailored to each student's subject, academic background, and application goals. Having successfully navigated the admissions process myself and gained a place to study History at the University of Cambridge, I understand both what admissions tutors are looking for and how competitive the process can feel.
Sessions are typically one hour long and can cover any stage of the application process, including personal statements, admissions tests, interview preparation, wider reading, super-curricular development, and general application strategy. For interview preparation, I conduct realistic mock interviews designed to help students think critically, articulate their ideas clearly, and respond confidently to unfamiliar questions.
My approach focuses on developing the intellectual curiosity, analytical skills, and confidence that Oxbridge admissions tutors value most. Rather than relying on rehearsed answers, I help students learn how to engage with ideas, construct arguments, and demonstrate genuine academic potential.
I work with students from a wide range of educational backgrounds and am particularly passionate about supporting ambitious applicants who may not have extensive access to specialist admissions guidance through their school.
