About Sybellah
Hello! I'm an undergraduate at Cambridge, with a passion for languages, cultural exchange, and making language learning accessible to everyone. I spent an academic year studying Mandarin in Taiwan on a government scholarship, where I developed not only my language skills but also an appreciation for the role language plays in connecting people across cultures.
Outside of my own studies, I am often enjoying the outdoors! I spend lots of time travelling, hiking, mountain biking, and camping! At uni, I have also taken up equestrian polo, and caving!

I tailor lessons to each student's goals and learning style! I primarily target beginner Mandarin learners. I am flexible and happy to adapt lesson content based on students' interests, whether that involves conversation practice, grammar help, character recognition, cultural topics, homework support, structured textbook study, or something different. I aim to create an encouraging and engaging learning environment that builds speaking confidence and emphasises practical communication from the very beginning.
Typical lessons can last either thirty minutes or an hour.
I studied Mandarin in Taiwan on a competitive scholarship from the United States government and I am currently an undergraduate studying Mandarin and East Asian culture and history at Cambridge. I have four years of experience tutoring students in English, history, calculus, chemistry, biology, and Mandarin!
My lessons are best suited for beginners, including children, secondary school students, university students, and adults who would like to begin learning Mandarin in a supportive and personalised setting. No prior knowledge of Chinese is required.
