About Lillie
I am a friendly, patient, and reliable tutor who genuinely enjoys working with children and young people. I believe that every child can thrive academically when given the right support, encouragement, and approach. My background in Sociology and Social Policy has given me a deep understanding of the barriers many children face, and my upcoming MA in Educational Neuroscience will further inform how I support students with different learning needs.
Alongside my tutoring, I have experience working as a nanny-governess with boys and girls aged 4 to 13, and therefore recognise the importance of building warm and open relationships, designing lessons that utilise the child's interests, and ensuring sessions are both enjoyable and informative. I take a warm but professional approach, building trusting relationships with students so they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and being vulnerable. I believe this is the foundation of effective learning. I am also highly organised, communicative, and committed to working closely with parents to ensure we are all supporting the student's progress together.
In my free time I love learning about psychology, politics, sociology, literature, philosophy, the classics, and biology. For fun I enjoy playing the drums, acting, travelling to new places, rollercoasters, and reading. I am passionate about education and helping children unlock their potential, whether that means gaining a place at a competitive school, catching up in core subjects, or simply building the confidence to enjoy learning again. I plan to work in educational policy and curriculum design in the future after completing my MA in Educational Neuroscience.

My lessons are typically one hour long, though I am flexible depending on the student's age and needs. I take a patient, supportive, and tailored approach to each student, building trust and confidence alongside academic skills. I use a mix of targeted resources, past papers, and creative activities to keep lessons engaging and effective. I assess each student's strengths and areas for development, then design a personalised programme that addresses their specific goals, whether that's exam preparation, catching up, or building foundational skills.
I have 9 years of experience as a private tutor and governess, preparing students for 7+, 8+, ISEB Pretests, 11+, KS1 and KS2 SATs, and CAT4 tests for international school entrance. I have successfully helped students gain places at Westminster Cathedral Choir School, St Paul's Boys, Winchester College, Eton College, Canford, and Invictus International School, Malaysia. I also have extensive experience providing remedial support for students with SEN including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and Dyspraxia. I have worked with older students at GCSE level with SEN needs, helping them raise their grades significantly, and have been a full time governess for homeschooling students, raising GCSEs from Grade 2s to 5-7s across multiple subjects.
Beyond exam preparation, I can help select high quality novels to complement literacy learning, building cross curricular and cultural awareness while increasing vocabulary. I can also help advise on resources, novels and experiences which can complement tuition, supporting common entrance topics such as history, geography, and religious studies and Latin. My approach is to make learning engaging and connected to the wider world, helping students develop a genuine love of learning alongside exam success.
My experience also includes voluntary work with IntoUniversity, Wise Mentoring Scotland, and Cities for Children, where I supported students from disadvantaged backgrounds and those requiring additional support. I teach English, maths, and reasoning across KS1, KS2, and KS3, as well as remedial reading, writing, and maths support. I also offer GCSE support for students with SEN needs. Whether your child needs help with entrance exams, building confidence in core subjects, or catching up, I am committed to helping them thrive.

Perfect! Lilie is an excellent tutor.
She is patient, kind and highly dedicated. She carefully assesses the gap between a child’s current academic level and their learning objectives, and devises appropriate and effective tutoring strategies. I am happy to recommend Lilie to everyone.- Working with Joel, his wife and his daughter is a thoroughly enjoyable experience . His daughter is extremely bright and hardworking and has learnt very quickly . The family is supportive and prepares a lovely learning environment for the lessons. During our trial I evaluated the child’s needs, discussed goals, examining her ability and then we decided on our lesson schedule.Lillie's response :

We have been extremely happy with the English tutoring our children received. Lillie is incredibly patient, kind, and encouraging, creating a warm and supportive learning environment where my children felt comfortable and confident.
She explained things clearly, adapted her teaching to each of my children’s needs, and always made the lessons engaging and enjoyable. We have noticed a real improvement in our children’s confidence and ability in English.
We would highly recommend Lillie to any parent looking for a caring, dedicated, and effective English tutor. We are very grateful for all her hard work and support!
Lillie is a phenomenal tutor. My son was struggling at school following a period of unschooling in primary (due to SEN) and limited support in his school. Following his mocks where he achieved a 2 in English literature, a 3 in language, 3 in maths, and 2 in sciences and geography, we decided to take him out and have a governess help him. Lillie assessed him, created a personalised curriculum and daily timetable, helping him develop skills in deep concentration, routine making and following, goal setting, and fixing all the foundational skills he lacked from primary school. Over the next 5 months, she taught him how to read more fluently, write grammatically, spell, work sequentially in all his subjects, and improve his working memory and cultural knowledge. Additionally, she helped him to understand his ADHD and dyspraxia and how to work in line with his needs. He went from hating learning and having never read a full book, to devouring Patrick Ness books and a range of YA books alongside enjoying his GCSE texts. He went back to school in year 11 and got all his GCSEs at grades 5-7 and even more importantly rekindled his love of learning and his confidence. He has now gone on to achieve his A-levels in economics, sociology, and business where he achieved them all with Bs and Cs. We would definitely recommend Lillie as a tutor for remedial learning, SEN support, confidence, and knowledge building.
I am delighted to highly recommend Lillie as an excellent tutor who successfully prepared my twins for places at two of the top boarding schools in the country and my younger son for one of the top boarding prep schools. Lillie researched thoroughly the criteria for my child’s target schools and ensured the child had covered every aspect and felt confident and prepared for the exact exams, be they ISEB pre-test, 7 plus, 8 plus, 11 plus, and 13 plus (in our case these were the 8+, ISEB pretest, and common entrance exams). She had a way of encouraging the children to push beyond their comfort zone to fulfill their potential as well as enabling them to know that they have done their best to prepare and can confidently give every exam their best shot. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for excellent tuition.
A Wonderful Experience with Lillie! We cannot say enough good things about Lillie! She has been an absolute blessing for our son, Adrian. Lillie is the perfect blend of complete professionalism and genuine warmth. What truly sets her apart is her incredible ability to tailor her teaching to a child’s individual personality. She took the time to understand Adrian's unique traits and adapted her methods to match his learning style. Adrian absolutely loved his time with her and genuinely enjoyed the way she taught. Every lesson was engaging, highly effective, and something he truly looked forward to. We are incredibly grateful for how much she helped Adrian grow. We highly recommend Lillie to any family looking for a dedicated, skilled, and deeply caring tutor!
