About Zahra
About Me
I'm an MSc Economics and Data Analytics graduate from University College Dublin, with a background that combines strong academic grounding in quantitative methods with real-world experience applying data analysis to policy and economic research. I genuinely enjoy helping students see the logic behind Math and Economics rather than just memorizing steps — breaking down complex ideas into something clear, manageable, and even (dare I say) interesting.
I understand the pressure that comes with the Leaving Cert, particularly with subjects like Math and Economics where exam technique matters as much as understanding. My goal in every lesson is to build both competence and confidence, so students walk into their exams knowing not just what to do, but why it works — and trusting themselves to handle whatever question comes up.
I'm patient, organized, and committed to tailoring each session to the student in front of me, whether that means slowing down to rebuild a shaky foundation or pushing further for a student chasing a H1.

My Teaching Approach
I focus on building genuine understanding rather than rote memorisation — especially important for Maths and Economics, where exam success depends on being able to apply concepts to unfamiliar problems, not just recall formulas or definitions. I start each topic by connecting it to something tangible (real-world data, current events, or practical examples), then work through past exam questions together, gradually shifting responsibility to the student as their confidence builds. I also use visual tools and structured notes to break down complex topics — particularly useful for areas like statistics, graphs, and economic models that students often find abstract.
Lesson Format
Lessons typically run for 60 minutes, with flexibility for longer sessions during exam season or shorter check-ins for quick topic reviews. Each lesson includes a mix of concept review, guided practice, and exam-style questions, with a short recap and homework set at the end to reinforce learning.
My Background
I hold an MSc in Economics and Data Analytics from University College Dublin, alongside a strong foundation in quantitative methods, statistics, and data analysis. My academic and professional work has involved a great deal of breaking down complex economic and statistical concepts for non-specialist audiences — a skill that translates directly into helping students grasp difficult material clearly and confidently.

My lessons are designed for Leaving Cert students (Junior and Senior cycle) studying Maths and/or Economics, at both Ordinary and Higher level. I work with students looking to build core fundamentals as well as those aiming for top grades, and I tailor each lesson to the individual's strengths, gaps, and exam goals.
