About Christian
Hello! My name is Christian Chua. I am currently a student at the University of Calgary, working to get my bachelor’s of education, specializing in secondary English language arts. I graduated from the University of British Columbia, receiving my bachelor’s of arts in English with an emphasis in literature with distinction. I've always had a passion working with, meeting, and teaching others. From a young age, I initially worked and volunteered as a hockey instructor which really sparked a need to help others. This has now crossed paths with my passion for English literature. I've been through the highs and lows within the field and have met all kinds of different people, which I believe helps me better assist others with English - I understand how difficult it can be.

English is difficult, especially considering it is not black and white like other subjects. I aim to not only help students improve, but to gain confidence in their writing abilities.
Lesson plans are flexible to meet each individual student's needs, whether that is looking over previous essays or learning how to critically analyze Shakespeare. I can also teach a wide variety of other topics such as essay writing (both critical and personal) , creative writing, and MLA format (the generally accepted standard for university English). Therefore, lesson plans are dependent on what the student is looking for and can be discussed.
Best for those looking for high school preparation, improving high school grades and skills, or preparing for university.
