About Faaris
I went through the 11 plus myself when I applied to grammar school, so I understand exactly how challenging and uncertain the process can feel for students. A lot of children are capable, but they just need someone calm and clear who can break things down in a way that makes sense to them. That is one of the main reasons I want to teach. I enjoy taking a topic that feels difficult at first and helping a student realise they can understand it step by step. Seeing a child grow in confidence, start to recognise patterns and develop their own thinking is genuinely rewarding. I also know that the right support at the right time can make a huge difference, not only for the exam but for how a student feels about learning in general. Because I work in a professional role where communication and structure matter, I bring that same clarity into my tutoring. My sessions are organised, patient and tailored to each child. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and improving at their own pace. My goal is to help them feel prepared, calm and confident when they sit the exam, rather than stressed or overwhelmed. Overall, I want to teach because I know how valuable it is to have someone explain things properly and support you during an important stage. I enjoy helping students reach their potential and feel proud of what they can achieve.

Hello, my name is Faaris, and I tutor students preparing for the 11 plus entrance exam. I studied at Queen Mary’s Grammar School, so I have been through the exact process myself and understand how demanding the preparation can be for both students and parents. I now work professionally in a corporate role, which has strengthened my communication, organisation, and teaching style. I tutor in • Maths • English • Verbal Reasoning • Non-Verbal Reasoning • Exam techniques and time management My approach is calm, structured and tailored to the child. I make sure they understand the method behind each question, not just the answer, because confidence and clarity are what ultimately get results. I have helped family members and family friends prepare for grammar school entry, and I now offer one-to-one online or in-person tutoring for students in Years 4 and 5. I can also support with homework, revision planning and mock test preparation. Parents usually tell me their child becomes more confident, more focused and more comfortable with the exam format after a few sessions. I offer flexible evening and weekend availability, and I am happy to discuss your child’s current level and goals before starting.
