About Aasiya
I am 20 years old, studying English Literature at Newcastle University. I’m in my third year, and have thoroughly enjoyed my degree so far as it gives me the opportunity to not only develop my analytical thinking through my core modules, but also develop my creative writing through its optional modules. I have been passionate about English since I was a child as my hobbies and interests always surrounded writing and reading. I take pride in my grammatical skills and creativity and have always enjoyed assisting students below me in English when I was in school. I studied in Saudi Arabia for ten years where I completed my entire secondary education. English Literature and English Language was not a subject that was taught at my school so I found a tutor online who assisted me for IGCSE and A Level. I studied these subjects one-on-one with a tutor which allowed me to get an insight into how English should be taught through tuition and what skills it requires. Through my own experience of being tutored for so long I believe I have what it takes to tutor English to students needing either partial or full time assistance in the subject.

I have taught students in both Key Stage 2 and 3 both English Language and Literature. I have also volunteered in assisting dyslexic children how to read for a year. I believe I possess the patience and determination to make English an enjoyable experience for all students, focusing on each student’s individual strengths and weaknesses. I aim to improve their grammar as well as their ability to think outside the box and enhance both their creative as well as critical thinking.
