About Paul

About Me:

Music has always been a huge part of my life. It is a powerful way to express feelings, tell stories, and connect with other people. Just like you, I am always learning. Every time I pick up an instrument or explore a new song, I discover something new about myself and the world. When I am not making or teaching music, I enjoy listening to different genres, discovering new artists, and practising my own craft.

DAWN VIEW HIGH SCHOOL:

In the 1980s, Dawnview High School offered a comprehensive music programme from Standard 6 through to Matric, covering all musical instruments. My primary instrument was the pianoforte. Prior to joining the school’s music department, I had already begun private lessons through the University of South Africa (UNISA), studying from 1983 to 1989. While at Dawnview High, I continued my private studies under my music principal and was granted special permission to take my UNISA music studies as a seventh subject.
I officially joined the Dawnview High School Music Department in April 1987, after successfully passing the practical audition and entry examinations in music theory, history, and counterpoint technique.
During my time there, I was awarded the school's music trophy in both Standard 9 and Matric. Additionally, in the spring of 1988, I received a Gold Diploma at the Springs National Music Festival. I ultimately achieved an A symbol for my final pianoforte practical music repertoire.
