Ella is the kind of student every teacher hopes for. She's a Math teacher herself, so she knows how to show up and put in the work — and she does. She's learning Swahili to chat with locals when she visits Tanzania next year, and she's really going for it: fun, smiley, quick to pick things up, and always practicing what we've covered between lessons. That effort shows — I can see her getting better all the time. A real pleasure to teach.

What an absolute pleasure it has been to work with Susana. She speaks multiple languages and already has a strong familiarity with East Africa, thanks to her boyfriend being from Tanzania. I especially enjoyed that she continued her Swahili lessons with me even after visiting Tanzania and returning home — a true sign of her dedication and love for the language.

Wow — where do I even begin to talk about Colin! I can honestly say I’m proud to call him not just my student, but my good friend. Over time, he has become like family to me. We’ve met in person twice — last year and again this year — when he and his wife visited Tanzania. He even brought me a gift and invited me to their wedding welcome party, where I got to meet both of their families and friends, dance, eat, and just have an amazing time together. Those are memories I’ll never forget.

Colin’s dedication to learning Swahili is truly inspiring. His progress has been remarkable — he’s determined, consistent, and deeply passionate about mastering the language. Beyond that, he’s such a high-achieving person in so many areas of his life, and honestly, he’s become one of my role models.

I always look forward to our weekly lessons with Amy and her young daughters. I truly appreciate their dedication to learning Swahili despite Amy's busy work schedule and the demands of being a mom—a role that is both challenging and unpaid. The girls are absolutely fantastic, and I thoroughly enjoy teaching them. Learning a new language can be quite a long and challenging journey at times. It takes time to start seeing progress, and I can see they are making significant strides.

At first, I wasn't sure how the lessons would work, considering I had to teach both an adult and young children together, but it has turned out to be a wonderful experience. I feel very honored to work with Topollo. Working with him just feels like working with KAKA (a brother). Learning a new language isn't easy but he's very determined with no signs of backing down!
