About Diego
I graduated with my bachelors in jazz studies with focus on jazz piano and I also acquired a masters from Towson in jazz performance in the fall of 2022.
I have extensive experience teaching private lessons as well as coaching choirs, jazz bands and music theory classes as well.
I have taught after school lessons at Reston Montessori and have also aided as a band instructor for Blues Alley Jazz Camp. I also served as a long-term substitute for Washington Latin Public Charter School for the entire music program. At this school I taught a total of three choirs, one jazz band and general music theory class. Currently I teach for three music companies that do private lessons in homes and I also work at Music and Arts.
As a performer, I currently play at St Augustine's Episcopal Church and have played in many jazz quartets, trios and jazz ensembl

I have individual taught piano lesson since 2016. In the year of 2020, I worked as an online teacher for my students, some of whom I still currently teach, and for new students who were looking for online piano lessons as well.
I am experienced with people from the ages of 5-45 years old. I have taught some classical, movie songs, pop music and jazz music repertoire.
Lesson material is dependent on the level of student.
I go over simple technical things like:
-scales, arpeggios,
-ways to approach the piano in terms of finger movements.
-Rhythm exercises
-Some music theory like chords, recognizing intervals
-Music notes, time signatures, key signatures and much more
-Repertoire of your choice. No matter the genre, I will screen for a particular arrangement of a song or a song/piece of your choice appropriate to your level of playing.
