I have also taught Special Needs..I love the variety of teaching. I have a History and Statistics degree, PGCE and Japanese Masters equivalent. I was a scholarship student in Germany and lived in France also as a work placement. I love teaching because I am still learning! I taught German, French TEFL before moving to Japan to teach English. Ended up staying 12 years and learning Japanese before returning to UK where I taught on Supply GCSE French, German History and English and taught A level privately as well. I latterly specialised in all ages of Primary because I enjoyed the variety and working with younger children so much. I am qualified to teach both Primary and Secondary.
Like the intensity and satisfaction of one on one...making a difference.
Last year, a home educated student of 12 passed his GCSE English and another girl of 14 who had moved schools and no longer received German tuition sat and passed her German GCSE.
I am currently teaching a Thai -born student English for GCSE so she can go to University , three other GCSE students, History and English, a couple learning German for for and doing SATS preparation with a 10 year old, English and Maths with an 8 year old and teaching a 10 year old with ADHD to try to keep him mainstream. I also have an adult student who I taught to read and write who is now at college doing her English exams.
In other words, each student has individual needs and is treated as such. It is this variety and helping to catch their dreams that make my love my job.
