About Jema
Hi, I'm Jema, a Maths tutor with over 15 years’ tutoring experience with a B.Eng. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering. I provide online Maths tuition for IGCSE, A-Level, and IB (SL & HL), supporting students from secondary through pre-university level. Over the years, I’ve worked with students from a wide range of academic backgrounds and education systems. Many have gone on to significantly improve their results, gain admission to competitive programmes, or simply develop the confidence to approach Maths without anxiety. Once, I had a student who was convinced they weren't going to pass their finals, let alone do well. Within a few months, he went from staring with glazed eyes at maths content, to confidently tackling exam questions he once avoided completely. I take my students' goals very seriously, and bring a level of analytics to help students achieve, and even exceed them. I communicate clearly with students (and parents where appropriate), track progress carefully, and adjust lesson plans as needs evolve. Above all, I believe Maths should feel approachable and manageable. My role is not just to teach content, but to help students develop confidence in their own thinking and problem-solving ability. My approach is clear, structured, and student-centred. I focus on strengthening foundations, explaining concepts step-by-step, and developing strong exam technique and confidence. Lessons are adapted to each student’s level and learning style, whether they are struggling, aiming to improve consistency, or pushing for top grades. Lessons typically run for 50–60 minutes, allowing time for explanation, guided practice, and exam-style questions. I also use targeted homework and feedback where helpful. I work with students in Years 9 through 12, as well as early university students, and I’m equally comfortable supporting those who need extra help or those looking to be challenged.
