About Jen
Hello! I am a 22-year-old from Westchester County, NY. This past May, I graduated in the top 5% of my class at NYU, where I studied English and creative writing. I held over a dozen jobs and internships throughout college and am currently interning with two social media companies. In my free time, I like to learn about astrology, social movements, and real estate. I also love fashion and interior design. I listen to a lot of R&B and oldies and arrange vocal covers when I can. I am serious about COVID safety and will wear a mask at all times if needed, though I am triple (soon to be quadruple) vaccinated. I am a true night owl and can offer sessions well after most other tutors, making me a convenient choice for students in different time zones. I'm looking forward to working with you!

I am a patient, flexible, and creative tutor with a genuine love of teaching and getting to know students. I am happy to work with all ages and have experience with those between 7 and 23 years of age. I have tutored in:
- All subjects for elementary and middle school students
- ESL for middle and high school students
- Honors/Advanced Biology, English, and History for high school students
- Essay writing for high school and university students
I tailor my lessons to fit each individual student, drawing from a wide variety of techniques and adjusting from moment to moment. Rather than punishing students for getting things wrong, I reward correct answers and set attainable goals to work towards. Because many students (especially younger ones) struggle to focus, I am a huge proponent of breaks, compromise, and celebrating small victories. A session with me might look like a brief assessment of the student's wellbeing and assignments for the day/week/month/year. Then the main tutoring would begin, with my initial loose framework and lots of input and guidance from the student on how they might like to proceed. Games, quizzes, memorization practices, and co-reading of materials are some of my favorite tools. I like to emphasize that whatever works for the student works for me, so whether they prefer to talk it out or make flashcards, I'm ready.
