About Finn
Hi, I’m Finn, and I am dedicated to helping students unlock their full potential in STEM.
I am currently completing my Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Sheffield. Navigating a rigorous, heavily analytical degree means that I don't just memorise the GCSE syllabus; I apply these exact Maths, Physics, and Computer Science principles in my studies every day. This depth of knowledge allows me to teach these subjects as they would be used in the real world, not just as a load of questions on a page which will set any student up for the next step in their studies.
I understand firsthand that subjects like Further Maths and Physics can feel overwhelming. My goal as a tutor is to completely remove that anxiety. I strive to create a calm, encouraging environment where no question is too small, and where making mistakes is a necessity to learning not a setback.

My lessons are specifically designed for secondary school students studying at the GCSE level (Years 9 -> 11). Whether a student is looking to secure a passing grade, or aiming for top Grade 8s and 9s to prepare for A-Levels, I tailor my classes to match their specific goals.
I am currently studying for a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Sheffield. Engineering is applied Maths, Physics, and Computer Science, meaning I use these subjects every single day. I achieved A*s in Maths, Physics and Computer Science in my A-levels, meaning I have a good grasp of the syllabus and how to best help students achieve their full potential.
I believe that anyone can master STEM subjects if they are taught in a way that makes sense to them. My teaching revolves around two core methods:
Identifying the Gaps: In our first session, we will figure out exactly where the student is struggling. Often, a student isn't bad at a subject; they just may need to run over the basics again to help them in more complex problems.
Exam Technique: Knowing the content is only a fraction of the exam; knowing how the examiner wants it written is the other. We will heavily utilise past papers, mark schemes, and timed questions so the student walks into their actual exam feeling completely prepared and confident.
My standard lessons are 60 minutes long, as I find this is the sweet spot for covering a solid amount of material while keeping focus. However, I am completely flexible. I can offer 30 minute sessions for students who prefer shorter or 1.5-hour sessions in the run-up to exam season for past-paper practice.
