I studied at a state school, learning very quickly how to become an independent learner. At A-level I studied Maths (Core with two units in Statistics), History, English Literature and additionally undertook an EPQ. At the end of sixth form I obtained A*A*A*A* with over 95% UMS in all exams sat.
I then took a gap year in which I first began tutoring A-level and GCSE maths. As primarily an arts student I found that my strength in being a math tutor was that (as someone who struggled with confidence in my own mathematic ability throughout school) I completely understand that maths can be a daunting subject, and that there is a massive stigma attached to studying it at A-level. You don't have to be a scientist to do well in maths at A-level and it does not have to be daunting if you approach it in the right way, and I feel as though my tutoring reflects this.
During my gap year I successfully applied to Cambridge to study history so am very familiar with the application process. At Cambridge I am on my college's student union and a part of Access Team, for which I weekly carry out tours and Q&A sessions for prospective students. As a tutor in the summer for Cambridge Immerse I do a workshop on studying history at Cambridge and carry out 1-on-1 personal statement tutoring, thus am very well acquainted with tutoring for oxbridge applications, in particular helping applicants make their application stand out. I feel like this type of help can be particularly beneficial to those considering applying coming from a state school which offers little assistance (as I did), as an insight into the application process can come as a real advantage.
I can tutor history at GCSE and A-level, personal statements and applications to Oxbridge, maths at GCSE and A-level, and also essay writing and written skills.
