About Madisen
Hi! My name is Madisen, and I am a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am majoring in Biology on a Pre-Medical Track with a minor in Neuroscience. I have extensive tutoring experience across many disciplines and was a National Merit Commended Scholar. I am certified by College Board for SAT Reading and Math, have served as a teacher's assistant for Algebra I, tutored Algebra 1 and Geometry in 1-on-1 settings for two years, Chemistry individually for 1 year, and elementary English and Science for 1 year to students in Ghana. I took 11 AP courses in high school, so I am able to teach any subject across elementary, middle, and high school. Outside the classroom, I dance competitively, cheerlead, and am an avid book reader. I focus on concept comprehension over memorization -- many of my lessons involve talking through problems aloud and asking questions in order for students to understand the process. Most often I leverage practice problems that we will spend time working through step-by-step, but am open to any techniques that students find beneficial.
