About Katie
I’m Katie, and I’m a graduate-entry medic at Cambridge University. However, I took a slightly round about method to medicine and actually did my first degree in History, at Oxford.
History taught me how to think and push boundaries, not accepting that there is a single answer to anything. I loved it as a subject, but after 3 years, I realised that I wanted a high paced job with both academic and social challenges, so decided to turn to medicine. I want to go into Anaesthetics or Emergency medicine.
In my free time, I enjoy running and climbing and just any crazy sport outside.

I have a variety of tutoring experience including currently doing UCAT and medical interview teaching. During my undergraduate degree I volunteered weekly to go into local primary schools and read with students who had low reading ages, which I built on in the pandemic, by providing tutoring to exam year groups who had limited access to online learning. I helped produce a GCSE English textbook which was a self-learning tool. I've also helped organise work experience weeks at the Heritage Centre for the Royal College of Anaesthesia to help students with limited access to medical opportunities gain an insight into medicine.
I feel this has given me a strong foundation to help with medical applications. However, my main focus as a tutor is recognising that every student learns and engages differently. I'm dyslexic, so feel very acutely that all students have different learning styles, and a tutor must be able to adapt to them. Typically, I like teach by discussion and student-lead debate, and will provide comprehensive write-up of the lesson after for the student to go over for themselves.
