About Viji
1. Lead by example - in every way. I need to show students trust and respect, especially as these two behaviors are essential in maturity. 2. Students watch everything I do, so I must model what I expect from them. Arriving to class on time, prepared and organized. 3. Highlight their good qualities regularly and then empower them to help their peers. Pair them up strength to weakness so that kids can help each other. 4. Teach students to use calendars to help them organize and stay on time. Alarms can be set on phones using Google Calendar or color coding a planner can help aid students who need work on neatness, punctuality, and organization. 5. Following directions is a very important skill that should be taught properly. Students should review directions multiple times with the teacher and peers.

1. really getting to know the children you teach. Start by surveying them as a whole group at the start of the year and then make them write a personal inventory. i.e. their relationship with reading, writing, school in general, and working in groups. I like to ask them what they liked to read, what activities or hobbies they enjoyed, a memorable moment in their life, and to write down a favorite TV show, movie, or song and why it was a favorite.
