About Edmund
I am a Ph.D student at UCT with extensive experience in teaching and tutoring. I have been involved in teaching since 2009 both at UCT and in a private capacity, and have experience in teaching students from primary school to University level. I have received awards for my teaching at UCT, and my feedback from students has always been positive, highlighting my communication skills, ability to explain a complex subject simply and accessibly and my patience. My private students have gone on to achieve highly in their subject areas, and usually improve at least a letter grade after having employed me. I have studied physics, chemistry, mathematics and ecology during my undergraduate career, and am currently working on my Ph.D in Molecular and Cell Biology, which entails engagement with chemistry, genetics and statistics on a daily basis.

I offer lessons in all science related subjects, including mathematics, physical sciences, chemistry and biology to high school students (grade 8 - matric). I offer lessons at the student's home or via webcam. I believe that flexibility is the key to successful teaching, and I tailor my approach and methods to the requirements of the individual student. The focus of my lessons is always to achieve the goals of the individual student, and can include revision and reinforcement of basic concepts, exam preparation, aiding understanding of particular areas, model questions and extension and enrichment. I always strive to keep my lessons accessible and friendly, but professional. I usually base my lessons on resources provided by the student, but am able to provide additional resources if required.
