About Michaela
Hi, I’m Michaela — a movie-loving, music-obsessed history nerd with a serious case of wanderlust. I’m heading to University of Maryland, Baltimore County to study biology, with big plans to take that degree all the way to grad school in the UK for veterinary medicine. Yes, I fully intend to combine science, travel, and animals into one life.
I love getting lost in films that make you think, playlists that match every mood, and historical rabbit holes that start with one question and somehow end three hours later. Traveling and study abroad programs are high on my priority list — I want stamps in my passport and stories to tell.
I’m ambitious but grounded, curious about the world, and always planning the next adventure. If you like deep conversations, spontaneous travel ideas, or debating historical “what ifs,” we’ll probably get along just fine.

I graduated high school with all A’s in history courses. That means I don’t just “like” history — I understand how to succeed in it academically. I know what teachers look for in essays, DBQs, and exams.
As a Quiz Bowl member, I trained to think fast, connect historical themes, and recognize patterns across time periods. That skill translates directly into helping students:
• Identify key themes
• Spot cause-and-effect relationships
• Make stronger arguments in essays
As an incoming student at University of Maryland, Baltimore County, I’ve recently gone through high school history courses myself. I understand what it’s like to prepare for:
• AP exams
• In-class essays
• Multiple choice tests
• Timed writing
Sometimes students struggle because they’re intimidated. I’m close in age, which makes it easier to ask questions without feeling judged. Learning works best when it feels comfortable.
History isn’t about memorizing dates — it’s about understanding:

• Perspective and bias

I’m a current IB student with straight A’s in history and experience as a Quiz Bowl member, and I’m passionate about helping other students succeed.
